One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the past few years – just because you have an opinion on something doesn’t mean you have to share it. Especially when it deals with delicate matters.
Proverbs 18:2 – A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
Proverbs 29:11 – A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.
Amos 5:13 – Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent…for it is an evil time.
Many of us hinder ourselves and store up unnecessary hardship because we’re constantly running our mouth, sharing our opinions, telling people off. The tongue is a powerful tool. It can bless you or it can curse you. If you use it to curse belittle, degrade, and harshly judge – especially in situations that have nothing to do with you or situations you’ve not endured – it WILL hinder you.
There are some opinions that are better kept between you and your close friends. There are also opinions that should be kept between you and God.
P.S. I know some will have an opinion because I used the word “anus” in the title. This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a name of a part of our body, the word itself is not negative or degrading – it is the intent behind the use that the negativity associated with certain words.
