It’s very easy to be seduced by the world, if you’re not paying attention. Temptation isn’t boisterous, it’s subtle…cunning…rarely obvious. Temptation (if we aren’t vigilant) can make us part with our values little by little, weakening us to the point that we have no strength left to fight when our ultimate temptation comes.
First, we compromise on small things. Then, we compromise on greater things.
We must get to a point where we allow no thing, or person, to encourage us off the path God has called us to walk- and that path includes every aspect of our lives…every aspect…yes, even that.
Sometimes, that might mean others will make fun of us, some may even use our weaknesses against us (you do this, but you’re too “holy” to do this? Hypocrite!)- but,
just because you may be spiritually weak in one area doesn’t mean you allow yourself to become weak in other areas (particularly where you’re strong) so you can “fit in” and/or appease others.
In the end, we each must give an answer for ourselves and our actions– no one elses. Therefore, we must make sure our conscience/spirit/soul/heart (or whatever we call it) is at peace with our actions.
We all reap whatever we sow. If we sow that which is blessed (joy, love, compassion, trust, truth, forgiveness, etc.) we will reap the blessings. If we sow what is cursed (anger, hate, gossip, lies, discord, strife, etc.) we will reap what is cursed. Don’t add fuel to the fire by going against your own values!
Sow things you’ll look forward to reaping when the harvest comes.
